Manuscript Process In SEAJ

The flow chart of editorial process

The following flowchart outlines the publication process for the Science Education and Application Journal. This process provides a clear, step-by-step guide to help authors understand the stages their manuscript will go through, from initial submission to final publication. Each phase is designed to ensure that the manuscript meets the journal's high standards, including rigorous peer review, careful editorial evaluation, and thorough formatting checks. Authors are encouraged to follow this process closely to facilitate a smooth and efficient publication experience. Here’s a detailed description of each step of the publication process for authors, based on the flowchart provided:

1. Submission of Manuscript
The corresponding author submits the manuscript to the journal through the online submission system (OJS). Authors are required to follow the journal's manuscript template and guidelines, ensuring that the manuscript meets all the journal’s formatting requirements before submission. This is the first stage of the process where the manuscript enters the system for review.

2. Initial Stage Check

2.1 Adjustment to Template and Guidelines
After submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial check by the editorial team to ensure it conforms to the journal's template and guidelines. This is typically a quick process and can take anywhere from 1 to 5 days. If any formatting or guideline issues are found, the manuscript is returned to the author for necessary adjustments. The manuscript may be rejected if it does not meet the submission requirements.

2.2 Editor-in-Chief Assessment
If the manuscript passes the initial formatting check, it proceeds to the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for a preliminary assessment. The EiC will evaluate the manuscript based on its scope, originality, ethics, and overall suitability for publication. This step also includes a check for plagiarism. This stage may take an additional 1 to 5 days. If the manuscript fails this assessment, it will be rejected at this point.

2.3 Managing Editor Assignment
If the manuscript passes the Editor-in-Chief's assessment, the next step is the assignment of a Managing Editor, who will coordinate the manuscript’s review process. This can take another 1 to 5 days. The Managing Editor is responsible for ensuring that the manuscript progresses through the review stages.

2.4 Editor Section Assignment
Once the Managing Editor is assigned, the manuscript is further delegated to an Editor Section based on the manuscript’s subject matter. The assigned editor is responsible for overseeing the peer-review process and ensuring that the manuscript is reviewed by experts in the relevant field. This assignment also takes 1 to 5 days.

3. Review Process Stages

3.1 Sent to Minimum Two Anonymous Reviewers
The manuscript is then sent out to at least two anonymous reviewers. These reviewers are chosen based on their expertise in the manuscript’s subject matter. The review process can take anywhere from 7 to 21 days. During this time, the reviewers assess the substance of the manuscript and evaluate whether it meets the scientific, ethical, and technical standards of the journal.

3.2 Reviewer Assessment
The reviewers submit their feedback, providing a detailed evaluation of the manuscript’s quality, validity, and relevance. They may suggest improvements, revisions, or rejection based on the assessment of the manuscript’s substance. If the reviewers do not recommend publication, the manuscript may be rejected.

3.3 Revision by Author
If the reviewers suggest revisions, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision. The authors are required to address the reviewers' comments and resubmit the revised manuscript. This revision period typically lasts from 7 to 21 days.

3.4 Upload Revision on OJS
Once the author has made the necessary revisions, they will upload the revised manuscript to the Online Journal System (OJS). This is an essential step before moving forward with further checks and evaluations.

3.5 Final Assessment by Section Editor and Managing Editor
The revised manuscript is then re-assessed by the Section Editor and Managing Editor. This step includes checking for completeness, addressing reviewers' concerns, and performing a final plagiarism check. This process typically takes 1 to 5 days.

3.6 Assessment by Editor-in-Chief and Decision
After the final evaluation by the Section Editor and Managing Editor, the manuscript is sent to the Editor-in-Chief for a final decision. The EiC will review the manuscript one more time and make the final decision regarding its suitability for publication. This final assessment typically takes 1 to 5 days.

4. Publication Process Stages

4.1 Manuscript Layout by Managing Editor
Once the manuscript has passed the final evaluation, the Managing Editor prepares the manuscript layout. This involves formatting the manuscript for publication, including ensuring the proper layout of pages, figures, tables, and citations. The manuscript is also checked for completeness in terms of metadata, including the article title, abstract, and keywords, which are then sent to the author for approval. This step can take 1 to 5 days.

4.2 Final Check (Issue, Page Number, DOI Number)
The final check involves ensuring that the manuscript is ready for publication. This includes verifying that the issue, page numbers, and DOI (Digital Object Identifier) are correctly assigned. The author must approve these details before proceeding. If everything is correct, the manuscript is officially approved for publication.

4.3 Published with DOI Number
Once the final check is complete and the author has approved all details, the manuscript is officially published in the journal. It is assigned a DOI number, which makes it easily accessible and citable for future research. The manuscript is now part of the journal’s published content.
